The Reading Room is a dedicated space for students to meet and undertake individual study or quiet group work.

A range of published materials in various languages is available to students accessing the room.

 Study RoomResource room equipt with self access PC's, TV and published material

Students can access dictionaries and other reference materials in a range of languages.  Students can also watch satellite TV in this room.

 Satellite TV

Satellite Television is a valuable resource for staff and students. It is a fantastic way to tune your ear to the language, build your vocabulary, and become more accustomed to the culture.

  • The satellite room in Gordon Greenwood (room 318)
  • The study room in Gordon Greenwood (room 317)
  • The TV sets opposite teaching rooms 115 and 116 in Joyce Acroyd Building (Bld. # 37).

 Student Societies

Students are invited to join one or more of the student societies within the School:  JAP-SOC (Japanese), CHI-SOC (Chinese), the Korean Society, the Romance Languages Club (French and Spanish), RUSSOC (Russian) and GERSOC (German).  The societies hold lunch hour conversation groups as well as various social functions and activities throughout the year.  Students are invited to check out these societies’ stalls on the Wednesday of Orientation week (Market Day) in the cloister of the Great Court, and sign on to become a member.
