The Faculty of Arts is the centre of humanities research and research training in Queensland. Research is conducted in the Faculty's four Schools and specialist research Centres.
Our research extends knowledge, engages and informs across a diverse range of areas, and is recognised both in Australia and overseas. Faculty researchers have international reputations in an extensive range of specialist fields in the humanities.
We have a long history of research collaborations within the Faculty and across the University, as well as internationally with other researchers and academics, governments, non-government organisations and industries.
Research Strengths
The Faculty of Arts at UQ has identified five existing and emerging research strengths:
· Cultural and Media Studies
Including: Cultural Theory, Television and Film Studies, New Media Cultures; and Australian Visual and Print cultures;
· Cultural and Intellectual History
Including: The History of Religion, the History of Sexuality; the History of Governance, Ideology, and Policy; the History of Political Thought, and Australian and Pacific Cultural History;
· Literary Studies
Including: Australian and Postcolonial Literature and Drama and the Study of National Literatures;
and is developing new research strengths in:
· Music Education
· Digital Approaches to and Resources for the Study of History
